How the new Godox V1 pro differ from one another (and the Godox V1)

The Godox V1 pro brings 100 continuous shots at full power and a more powering solution, but is Godox’s new model all that different from the Godox v1?

To the surprise of everyone, Godox announced the new camera flash – Godox V1 pro during the first month of 2024, introducing it alongside with the new TTL wireless flash trigger-Xnano. That means Godox’s v1 lineup consists of the Godox v1 and Godox v1 pro. The Godox v1 pro won’t be available until 28th Feb, but you can preorder the camera flash now, starting at $329.

The Godox v1 pro is a great camera flash. To help you decide, we’ve put together a spec-by-spec breakdown of how the new Godox v1 model stacks up against the Godox v1 ahead of our full reviews later.

Price and Size

Before we go deeper into some details of this Godox v1 pro, we should check one of the significant differences between the Godox v1 and the Godox v1 pro: the price. The Godox v1 pro measures by 6.14 x 4.88 x 2.99" and weighs 20.5 oz, which starts at $329. The Godox v1 goes for $199, which comes with 3 x 7.8 x 3.7" in dimension and 1.17 lb in weights. The pro model offers detachable fill light component SU-1, which Godox v1 camera flash lacks.

Power and High-Speed Syncs

Now let’s talk about the power. This time, Godox doesnot change the output power for this new model. The Godox v1 and the Godox v1 pro share the same 76ws output power, which could offer

provide sufficient power to illuminate the subject and create a well-exposed portrait, both indoors and outdoors. Speaking of the High-Speed Syncs, these two Godox camera flashes feature up to 1/8000 seconds, which could illuminate the subject and freeze the action simultaneously.

Flash Duration and Recycle Time

Unsurprisingly, flash duration and recycle time are one of the most important features for camera flash. This new model features the 1/300 to 1/20000 second in flash duration and 1.5 seconds in recycle time indivually. The number is the same as the Godox v1. There is also no big updates in this regard.

Many photographers may use the previous model-Godox v1 and these two camera flashes could have some small differences to be aware of. That’s just a brief overview of some differences between Godox v1 and Godox v1 pro. You can dig into the more granular differences in the chart below, where we’ve rounded up all the relevant specs.

The Godox V1 Pro is priced $329 higher than the previous model, the Godox V1. However, based on the revealed information, there don't seem to be significant upgrades in the new model that justify the price difference.

While the Godox V1 Pro may have a more visually appealing design, there doesn't appear to be substantial improvements in terms of features or performance compared to the Godox V1. If you are considering upgrading your camera flash and have a sufficient budget, the Godox V1 Pro can still be a good option. However, if you are not specifically looking to upgrade your camera flash, the Godox V1 Pro may not offer significant additional benefits over the Godox V1.

Considering your situation and a tight budget, we would recommend the Godox V1 as your first choice for a camera flash upgrade.
