Godox Magic XT1 vs DJI Mic 2 and Hollyland Lark M2

Godox Magic XT1 offers a few features Hollyland and DJI’s flagship wireless lav mic lacks.

Ever wish you could have the best wirless lav microphone ? Godox’s magic XT1 has been that device.

The Godox Magic XT1 is here with a new compact and lightweight finish, up to 16 hours of working time, dynamic noise reduction,  stereo and mono safety track and a starting price: $109.

But there are many different brands in the market and to make you have a good choice, we compare the Hollyland Lark M2, Godox Magic XT1 and DJI Mic 2.

But before you throw down upwards of $109 on a order, you may want to know how Godox’s new-released wireless microphones measure up to DJI Mic 2 and Hollyland Lark M2. There are a couple of key differences to be aware of.

The most obvious, perhaps, is the fact that the Godox Magic XT1 is only priced at $109. In comparison, DJI Mic 2 is $349, which is almost $200 more than the Godox Magic XT1, While the Hollyland Lark 2 costs $123 -$10 more than the Magic XT1.

Those are just a few of the surface differences, though. When you dive deeper into their respective design, and audio quality, these three wireless microphones become even more distinct. To make you choose a bit easier, we’ve compared some of the more relevant features to show you how they stack up against one another on paper.

At first glance, the differences between the three microphones appear distinct. The DJI mic and the Godox microphone are relatively large, while the Hollyland Lark M2 is small and designed similarly to a tiny clothing button. In this regard, the Hollyland M2 is less noticeable during recording or interviews.

However, when it comes to the Godox Magic XT1, we found it to be lightweight and compact enough to clip onto your clothing while recording. So, the Godox Magic XT1 performs well, just like the DJI and Hollyland microphones.

Battery life is another area where the Godox Magic XT1, Hollyland Lark M2, and DJI Mic 2 differ. The Hollyland Lark M2 and DJI Mic 2 offer maximum receiver battery lives of 10 and 6 hours, respectively, while the Godox Magic XT1 provides up to 16 hours. This extended battery life is a standout feature of the Godox microphone.

Surprisingly, the Magic XT1 offers excellent performance during long shoots, events, or interviews without frequent recharging, especially considering it is a budget-friendly wireless microphone.

When it comes to transmission range, the Hollyland Lark M2 and DJI Mic 2 offer ranges of 300 meters and 250 meters, respectively, while the Godox Magic XT1 has a range of 200 meters. The Hollyland and DJI microphones may be equipped with higher transmission power settings, allowing for longer distances.

If you often use the microphone in your home or for medium-sized events such as weddings, conferences, or small concerts, a range of 200 meters is typically more than sufficient. To ensure stable and clear audio, these three wireless lavalier microphones all operate on the 2.4 GHz frequency band, which avoids the frequencies used by television and radio.

In terms of audio quality, the LARK M2 wireless microphone captures sound accurately with a 48 kHz/24-bit sample rate, while the DJI Mic 2 offers 48 kHz/32-bit float internal recording with uncompressed audio.

The Godox Magic XT1 also captures audio at a 48 kHz/24-bit sample rate and has a maximum SPL of 115 dB. However, neither the Godox Magic XT1 nor the Hollyland LARK M2 includes internal recording. Internal recording can provide an extra layer of security, flexibility, and enhanced audio quality.

Nevertheless, in controlled environments where reliable audio monitoring and recording equipment are already in place, internal recording on a wireless microphone system may not be necessary.

The Godox Magic XT1 features dynamic audio reduction, which enhances audio consistency, protects against distortion, improves speech intelligibility, and provides a better overall listening experience.

When comparing the LARK M2, Godox Magic XT1, and DJI Mic wireless microphones, it’s important to note that all three models support dual-channel video recording and real-time monitoring.

These features significantly enhance the quality and reliability of your video production.
